The Universal Jointing technology provides a technology which enables mutually jointing between submarine cables having different structures from different manufacturers based on the common jointing technology, regardless of its structures.

The Universal Jointing mainly provides the mutual jointing of "cable to cable"(UJ or UQJ), and the jointing of "cable to repeater "(UC).
To the present, the Universal Jointing has been supplied to the cable owners and the ship operators across the world.

Kokusai Cable Ship Co., Ltd.(KCS) has participated in the management of the Universal Jointing Consortium(UJ Consortium) as a member, and is engaging in the designing, manufacturing and supplying the UJ Consortium products. In addition, KCS offers the UJ jointer training relating to UJ, UQJ and UC, and issues the official certificate of the UJ Consortium.

UJ(Universal Joint) is the jointing technology for mutual connections of optical fiber submarine cables of submarine cable systems with repeaters having a function of amplifying optical signals.

UC(Universal Coupling) is the jointing technology for the connection of the optical fiber submarine cable and the repeater.

UQJ(Universal Quick Joint) is the jointing technology for mutual connections of optical fiber submarine cables of submarine cable systems without repeaters.
